  4. Decision MadeP24/S2715/TCA

My neighbour at 29 Park Street has asked me to reduce the size of a (1) Mediterranean Cypress on my property which is adjacent to his fence and it is significantly reducing the light to his garden. So, I am requesting permission to reduce the height of the Mediterranean Cypress by roughly 1.5 metres and to slightly reduce its width. At 1.5m high, the cypress' trunk has a circumference of 52 cm. I am also requesting permission to prune and thin a (2) Lawson's Cypress which at 1.5 m high, has a trunk circumference of 68 cm. (15% crown thin to the overall lateral volume to allow more light through - no reduction in height). And prune and thin a (3) Yew Tree, which at 1.5 m high, has a trunk circumference of 96 cm. (15% crown thin to the overall lateral volume to allow more light through - no reduction in height).

Installation of a 12KW air source heat pump to replace the existing oil-fired boiler.

  6. Decision MadeP23/S2765/TPO

T.1 Horse Chestnut (C) (TPO T1) Reduce the side of the canopy growing towards the house by 1-1.5m to maintain 2-2.5m clearance from the property and to also alleviate leverage weight on this side. Crown lift to approximately 4.5m by removing secondary growth only where possible T.3 Holm Oak (LG) (TPO T2) Remove subservient limb growing from the base Crown lift to approximately 2-2.25m by removing secondary growth only where possible Form overextended limb into a pollard to reduce the impact on the property. Reasons for the proposed works are listed and numbered below 1. The proposed works will help to prevent future conflict with the building. 2. The trees are beginning to dominate and whilst the residents like and enjoy the positive aspects of the tree, they do not want it to become any larger and therefore want to manage it to contain the size and spread of the tree, to prevent future problems. 3. The pruning will only remove an estimated 5% of the total leaf area of the trees and therefore the overall effect on the trees will be minimal. 4. The pruning will allow more light into the garden and property. 5. The trees vitally is good and therefore the pruning will not have a significant detrimental effect to overall condition of the tree. 6. The pruning will improve the relationship between the trees and their location. 7. Because the house screens the tree the branches removed will not be noticeable from public places and you will have to look hard to see they are missing, therefore the loss of visual amenity for the local landscape will be minimal. 8. The trees have grown significantly since the TPO was placed on it and I don't not see it as unreasonable for the home owners to request pruning to contain the size and spread of the tree and also to improve the enjoyment of the rest of the garden especially with T3 as it is so low meaning that it obscures the rest of the garden. Summary The proposed works will make significant difference to Clients use and enjoyment of their garden and will help to prevent future conflicts between the trees and the property. The reasons 1.-8. are all credible reasons, to justify the works, in their own right and all far out way the any loss of any visual amenity.

Various Plane trees along Norman Avenue 10 in total, with one major tree at the start within different ownership. The last tree is a much larger tree that was historically a pollard that has now lapsed into a full crown. 2 of these trees are fully mature with full size crowns, 7 have been historically managed as pollards at approx 3/4m, and a new tree planted as a replacement. I will refer to the trees as T1-10 with T1 being the tree closest to Norman House. T1: Reduce crown by 2.0m to suitable growth points T2-T7: Repollard to previous pollard point T8: Light formative prune, ensuring clearance to property and over highway to 5.2m. T9: Repollard to previous pollard point T10: Reduce crown by 2.0m to suitable growth points

    Norman Avenue, Henley-on-Thames, RG9 1SG

  11. Decision MadeP25/S0060/TPO

T1 - Sycamore: Observations: This large Sycamore dominates the residential garden where it is located, and would benefit from general management. The tree has grown significantly for it's location, and is beginning to encroach on our clients neighbours property, who have reported failing branches in areas where their children play. The tree also overhangs the boundary fence, onto a public footpath, which should the Sycamore continue to have failing branches then would cause a ProW health and safety risk. The recommended works are for general maintenance. Recommendations: Crown reduction - reducing the height by 1 metre and the spread of the tree by up to 2 metres to balance and shape. Crown lift to 6 metres.

What these statistics cover

These figures describe applications collected by PlanningTrack for South Oxfordshire District Council, across all dates currently available. They are a partial dataset, rather than an authority-wide performance measure. The date range does not establish continuous historical coverage.

The approval percentage is approved records divided by approved plus refused records. Pending, withdrawn and unknown outcomes are excluded. No percentage is shown until there is an approved or refused record.
