We would like to apply to have the crown lifted on a Yew tree, (number 194421 on the plan), that overhangs the school's boundary from the grounds neighboring Hinton House due to health and safety concerns and recent incidents involving primary school aged children scratching their heads and faces on the low hanging branches that encroach into the children's play area.We would like to apply to have the crown of the tree lifted to a height of 3 meters from ground level on the school's side of the boundary in order to create a safer head height beneath it that will help to prevent any further similar incidents from occurring in the future. If approval is granted, any proposed works will be carried out by approved contractors under the instruction of Hampshire County Council's Arboriculture team.

Tree: T1 Mature Beech (Fagus sylvatica)Proposed works:Reduce selected overextended lateral limbs on the side of the crown overhanging the neighbouring property by up to 5 metres, pruning back to suitable secondary growth points within the inner canopy. The 5 m measurement represents the maximum reduction to the longest overextended limbs only and is not intended as a uniform 5 m reduction across the entire side of the crown.Following reduction of the overextended limbs, blend and reshape the surrounding canopy to maintain a natural and balanced crown profile. The finished crown spread on the reduced side will be approximately 8 metres.Crown lift to approximately 4 metres above ground level, achieved through the selective removal/reduction of secondary and tertiary branches only. No primary scaffold limbs are proposed for removal as part of the crown lift. The overall height of the tree and the crown on the tree-owners side will remain unchanged. All pruning cuts to be no greater than approximately 70 mm diameter, with works undertaken to suitable pruning points and in accordance with BS 3998:2010 Tree Work Recommendations.Reason for works: To reduce the excessive lateral extension of the crown over the neighbouring property, improve clearance beneath the canopy and manage the tree?s relationship with the adjoining property while retaining the overall size, form and amenity value of the mature Beech.

We have already consulted a tree surgeon we know and trust (Joe Platt) who has recommended the following tree work:Tree work/pollarding:Coxs Yard:1. Sick ash on road (boughs drop off in winds) tree surgeon thinks this is a priority to cut down as there is risk of boughs falling into right of way road.2. V tall conifer situated next to above sick rowan on corner of 3 Church Lane house driveway/coxs yard. Tree surgeon believes that when the sick rowan comes down the additional light and space will encourage growth plus new exposure to winds may mean it will be buffeted by wind.Trees in garden:1. Dead miniature rowan - Tree surgeon thinks this should be cut down. 2. Ok miniature rowan - ditto.3. Sick Cherry tree (boughs drop off in winds). Tree surgeon says that it has rot and should be cut down.4. Sick Poplar (boughs drop off in winds). Tree surgeon thinks there is fair amount of dead wood and that it should be cut down.Removal of wood:A)Garden trees: boughs/trunks from the garden trees will be chopped up and left along the fence at the bottom of garden. Any woodchip can be scattered in woodland below her garden.B) Coxs Yard ash/conifer. Trees will be woodchipped and scattered in woodland below her garden.
