T4- Cherry Prunus Height- 9m Length- 6-7m Work Required- Crown reduction by 2-3m in height and 1-2m in length to reduce sail effect caused by winds from neighbouring field and to reduce mechanical stresses on large limbs that grow from 1.7m off the ground and reach the top of the tree (8m). T5- Rowan (Mountain Ash) Sorbus aucuparia Height- 7m Length- 4m Work Required- Crown reduction by 2m in height and 1m in length to prevent further encroachment onto neighbour's land and help keep a natural shape as it has shot up in height due to competition for light. Reduction will also reduce mechanical stresses on weak unions 2m off the ground. T6- Cherry Prunus Height-5m Length- 3.5-4m Work Required- Crown reduction by 1-2m in height and 0.5-1m in length to maintain tree's natural shape and for general maintenance. Thinning of 20% also required to promote airflow throughout the tree.

Willow Tree House, The Green, East Hanney, Wantage, OX12 0HQ

  4. Decision MadeP26/V1965/TCA(5D)

T1 Beech - Reduce in height from 30m to 20m from ground level shaping sympathetically into laterals including a further lateral reduction of the major limb oversailing the corner of the house by 3-4m (consider installing second cobra-brace on this limb), 10% crown thin remaining crown and remove Deadwood. Works to rebalance weighting and wind loading of crown following significant limb failure. The tree is an enormous beech tree. A huge limb came off last week on Wednesday night. All the weight on the tree is now very one sided, which makes it dangerous. The weight of the tree is also now on the side of The Old Vicarage and if any further limbs fall off, there is a risk of serious damage to the house and to anyone thats inside it. In order to save the tree, we would like to reduce the whole canopy by one third. The tree is approximately 30m high and we would like to reduce the whole crown to 20m above ground level. This would rebalance the tree and hopefully prevent any further damage. The garden is sometimes open to the public and I am a full time gardener that often has to work under and around this tree, therefore we need to make it safe as a matter of urgency. We have had advice from a tree surgeon and these are the measures he suggested.
