Seven Lime trees run along the edge of our property that borders a public footpath into Lee Park Estate. These trees were first pollarded by us in 1991 to safeguard pedestrians using this busy route into town and to protect cars parked on our drive. We have since had them re-pollarded every three years as on-going maintenance. This was last carried out in February 2022 by Devey Tree Care. Lime x7 - repollard, including the removal of all growth from main stems and basal growth.

  10. Decision MadeP26/S0516/TCA

T1: Goat Willow Remove two stems growing over recently built neighbouring property to leave tree a more upright form. Lightly prune/crown lift remaining crown where necessary over access driveway. The stems are growing very close to the roof of the new structure and given the vigorous re-growth capacity of these trees it would be preferable to remove the stems entirely rather than to reduce. The remaining tree will be leaning away from the new structure but will present a more upright form. T2: Hazel (ivy clad) Fell x2 stems growing over parking area. There are some significant dead branches posing a danger to people and parked vehicles so I have advised to park cars elsewhere until the trees have been dealt with. The stems can be cut back to leave smaller upright growth. T3: Box Remove stem overhanging driveway. Remove 2 smaller branches on opposing side to balance and leave a more symmetrical upright form. T4: Yew Crown lift 2x lower branches house side and 1 x lowest branch opposing side of crown. Tree is making the area dark due to its size. It is proposed to crown raise some low branches to allow more light into the area with minimum impact on the tree.

Various tree management in the rear garden. We looked at a mature Robinia to the rear corner. This is heavily beset with mistletoe which is considered parasitic although rarely significantly effects the health of the tree just cause an issue with structural condition through over burdening weight and increased drag in high winds, and through reducing light ingress into the crown. Specification: T1. Robinia - Thin out mistletoe by around 50% targeting heaviest clusters and clusters further out on branch tips. G2. Boundary to Thames access road - Lime, Horse Chestnut and Sycamore, all previously pollarded. - Re-pollard/reduce to approx. 1.8m above previous pollarding points, this is to ensure a new crown height is established retaining a green back drop.
