An ash tree identified on our tree survey today at The Carrington Arms, Folville St, Melton Mowbray LE14 2TE (see location plan attached) has revealed a crack at the base of a vertical limb, overhanging the outbuildings and pub, that is propagating and is a sign of incipient failure (see photographs attached). As a matter of urgency, due to the immediate risk of serious harm, we intend remove the defective limb and to prune selective overhanging branches to eliminate that risk of serious harm. We intend to carry out the works on Wednesday morning (19 Aug) this week.

Permission is sought to remove and grind out up to 9 tree stumps on the 15 Post Office Lane side of a boundary shared with 4 Baker?s Lane. The stumps are up to about 6 feet high, and are the remnants of hawthorn trees which were previously 15-30 feet high, which were previously cut to 6 feet high without permission. The stumps are to be removed prior to the planting of new trees to restore privacy along the border, with a view to proving the new trees with the best chance of survival. The attached Google Earth image shows the location of the stumps, indicated by the two white dots and the joining yellow line.
