- P20/V0021/TCAAsh tree to the Northern boundary of Thatcher Cottage - intention is to fell the tree. I purchased Thatcher Cottage approximately one year ago as a probate sale. The previous owner had passed away in his nineties. The tree in question has, perhaps understandably, been left un-managed for a considerable period of time. As such it is grown very large and is now out of scale with its situation. The tree is situated on the boundary between Thatcher Cottage and Blue Haze and is positioned just behind the garage to Thatcher Cottage. The tree has recently lost several limbs in reasonably quiet weather, these falling onto the asbestos roof of the garage and/ or the pathway leading from the house to the garage. There are also sections of major deadwood in the canopy which appear to be at risk of falling. Finally there has been historic poor pruning of a significant sub-stem which has left the tree lopsided. The sub-stem is now also showing signs of decay. In light of the above it is our intention to fell the tree and to plant an alternate tree in the form of an oak or beech further up the boundary so that it is further from the garage and hence can be allowed to grow naturally. I have consulted with the owner of Blue Haze as well as other residents of Church Road and none of those consulted expressed any objection to the proposed felling of the tree.No obj CA works0application · Linked by the council
