Council planning record

Mr Salmon and I requested that this tree had a TPO placed on it many years ago to protect it from damaged from adjacent development. We have been advised by an arborist (Ringrose, see quote provided) that, sadly, the horse chestnut is dead. We had hoped that some remedial could be carried out to save it and enquired whether remedial could have been carried out in the past to save it and the advice was that there was nothing that we could have done. Branches are starting to fall off in the neighbouring garden and so we are advised that it should be felled without further delay. It has only died recently and so we do not believe it is in danger of falling down but high winds could cause larger branches to fall and cause injury. We therefore believe the appropriate course of action is to fell the tree without delay. We are advised that the adjacent horse chestnut solely in Monks Hollow is in decent health. They were probably planted at the same time. Despite a large tree being planted exactly on the boundary between Monks Orchard and Monks Hollow, we would be happy to plant a tree to replace and would appreciate any advice about what to plant, given that there will be a large stump in that location. There are other mature trees in the vicinity, large horse chestnut to the East as described and a maple to the West in the garden of Monks Orchard. There is another smaller horse chestnut in the garden of Monks Hollow further to the East.
