Council planning record

Two Ash trees to be pruned. At the top left hand corner of the garden there are 5 ash trees ( shown on Sketch 1), with height in the range of 12 -15 metres. The two left hand trees are the tallest and are showing signs of distress. I have been monitoring them with the last 10 years for signs of Ash Dieback. I have had an arborist to review them periodically and, on his last visit on Thursday 28 September, he said that the two trees in question are showing signs of distress and the other three appear to be healthy. He has previously, for other clients, pruned trees in the early stage of Ash Dieback and they appear to have returned to healthy growth. It is his opinion that these two trees may be saved if the affected areas are pruned back along the branches to the areas showing healthy growth maybe up to 3 metres but hopefully less. The crowns of the trees appear generally healthy as can be seen in the attached photographs. The canopy of the trees is about 6-8 metres in diameter. I have spoken to the neighbours on both sides of my garden and they are aware of the proposed works. It is my wish to carry out this work to hopefully save these two trees. If it is not done the disease progresses the two trees will eventually have to be felled.
