Council planning record

T1 - Beech: early mature specimen 12m height, rounded canopy with 8-10m overall spread. T1 is located in the North West corner of the rear lawn of Moors House, growing from a steep boundary bank within wall and fence. T1 is overtopping the redbrick and tile roof summerhouse to its South West face to the lawn, and spreading North over The Millham (now farm land access track). The tree is clearly visible from this track. Intended works are to reduce the overall spread of the canopy by 1-2m into suitable growth points to BS3998 pruning recommendations. Occasional emphasis to 'drop-croth' areas with somewhat thin extended limb form, such as can be seen on its North aspect. This will achieve a final balanced form with a resultant canopy spread of 7-8m and new overall tree height of 10m. The justification of these works are to allow more afternoon light to pass the tree from the West into the garden and house. The reduction also aims to also retain the tree within the steep slope at its base, where previous cracking within the stone wall has led to collapse and a recent rebuild. Finally it presents a good opportunity to maintain canopy clearance to the Millham track and the brick summerhouse respectively.
