Council planning record

My wife and I have just moved into Winterbrook House, Harwell, OX11 0EY. The vegetation on the property has been allowed to grow unchecked for a number of years and there is significant (tree) overcrowding at the front of the house. A couple of trees are also growing very close to the house itself. We have already received a written warning from Harwell Village Council to cut back the overhanging trees that are affecting the High Street's public footpath. (I understand a number of warnings were raised with the previous owner so the matter is probably fairly urgent.) We have consulted with a Tree Surgeon (Dan Edwards from Branching Out). He has scoped the work and offered his recommendations. - Note that these works are ONLY an effort to prune back the dense vegetation to manageable levels. - Note that we are NOT seeking to affect the line of large trees that face the High Street - i.e. the 'public-facing' trees. The only minor exception is the dead wood that sits (very) high up - see detail below on tree 6 - and the dead wood risks falling onto the High Street / footpath during a storm. (The Tree Surgeon identified this issue.) - In every case, the selected trees have other trees around them so there will be NO visual change in the frontage that can be seen from the High Street. - Note that we will pay for all works and all waste / debris will be removed by the Tree Surgeon. The numbers below align to the uploaded sketch map. I will also add photos (if the system allows). 1. Yew (one of three separate trees growing in same immediate area). The one nearest to the house to be dismantled to ground level to provide sufficient clearance to the property. The tree is starting to push on the power line and the branches are growing towards the house itself. 2. Yew on the other side of the house, outside the utility room. Tree to be dismantled to ground level to provide sufficient clearance to the property. 3. Laurel - to be removed to ground level. 4. Spindly Laurel - to be removed to ground level. 5. Tree leaning against the wall that sits over High Street's public footpath. The branches are affecting the walkway and the Village Council have asked for it to be sorted out. 6. Ring the Ivy on a large Robinia to prevent the tree from being further damaged by the Ivy. At the top, the tree surgeon has identified dead wood and strongly recommends that it be removed to prevent it falling (from a significant height) onto the public footpath. 7. Remove three Holly branches that are also overhanging the High Street's public footpath (further along). The branches are affecting the walkway and the Village Council have asked for it to be sorted out.
