Council planning record

Poplar and ash tree in the area of brush and scrub on northeast corner of big green. Top broken and landed in ash tree see photo in email. Emergency work carried out: Remove the large section of poplar lodged in the crown of the ash tree adjacent to the footpath and Causeway. Fell the ash tree leaving a standing monolith for wildlife habitat. T16- Chestnut. Decay detection has been carried out on this tree with the recommendation being that it is reduced as well as having a flexible brace installed. It is proposed that the tree is reduced by 2.5m to lessen the sail effect and leverage on the base of the tree and cavity. T77- Chestnut. This tree is in very poor condition. We are at the limit of what this tree will tolerate in terms of reduction work and I feel this is still is not sufficient to bring the risk of failure, of both in part and/or the whole tree, to an acceptable level. The target area underneath the tree (being the cricket club) is extremely high consequence. It is therefore recommended that this tree is felled. Crown raise the following trees as follows: Tree numbers, 22, 20, 19 and 17. The canopies of these trees are over extended and very low. It is proposed that they are crown raised. The pruning method used would be to reduce the pendulous growth back to the more upright growth, reducing the branches by around 3m. There is black staining around the base of the large limb on 17 with the remaining trees benefiting from a reduction of weight through the crown raising process.
