Free planning alerts for your street or property
PlanningTrack emails you when a planning application is submitted or decided at a property or on a street you follow. Alerts are free, and you can set up to 20 of them with one account.
How to set up a planning alert
- Choose a property or a street. For a property, enter the building number or name, street, town and postcode. For a street, enter the street name, town and a postcode on that street.
- Choose your updates. Choose new applications, decisions or both, and a daily or weekly digest.
- Sign in to activate the alert. Sign in with a code sent to your email address. A free account needs no card and the alert emails go to that address.
A digest is sent only when there is something to report. It lists each new application or decision that matches your alert since the previous email, with the reference, address and proposal and a link to the council record, up to 50 updates in each digest.
Recent planning applications near you
To see applications that have already been submitted, search applications by address, postcode or proposal, or open your council in the planning authority directory. Council pages list the newest received applications first where the council publishes received dates.
An alert covers what comes next: once it is active, new applications and decisions that match it are emailed to you.
Weekly planning lists
Many councils publish a weekly list of the applications they received or decided. These lists cover the whole council area and are usually a page or PDF on the council website. A weekly digest from a PlanningTrack alert lists only the applications that match your property or street, from the records we have collected.
For the complete weekly list, check your council’s website. Its address is on each council page in the directory.
Alerts for a whole area
Builders, trades and estate agents who want applications across the area where they work can use Area alerts instead of street alerts. Each area is a postcode with a radius of 1 to 25 miles, filtered by project type, with up to 3 areas for £29 a month. Councils that do not publish coordinates for an application are not included in area alerts. Check coverage for your councils.
See how Area alerts workQuestions about planning alerts
How many planning alerts can I set up?
Up to 20 property and street alerts with a free account. Delete an alert you no longer need to add another.
How does a street alert match applications?
A street alert matches applications whose address includes the street name you entered, within the postcode district of the postcode you gave. A property alert also needs the building number or name and the full postcode to match.
Does an alert include all applications on my street?
No. Alerts cover the councils PlanningTrack collects, and update times vary by council. An application with the address written differently from your alert, or with no postcode, may not match. Check the council register for anything that affects you.
Can I get alerts for a whole area instead of one street?
Yes, with Area alerts at £29 a month. Each of up to 3 areas is a postcode with a radius of 1 to 25 miles, filtered by project type. Councils that do not publish coordinates for an application are not included in area alerts. Check coverage for your councils.
