    Received 29 Nov 2024
  14. Decision MadeP25/S2050/TCA

T1 Yew- Remove and grind stump. The tree has suffered recent damage during the erection of scaffolding that has left it with unsuitable form and would require pruning that would be detrimental to the long-term health of the tree to rectify. The tree was categorised B1 for retention as part of a recent planning application however given the trees proximity to the proposed works and buildings it may have been more beneficial to remove the tree and mitigate with offset planting in the adjacent land. I believe the trees long term viability is unsuitable in its current location and the new use of the adjacent buildings will cause further issues post development. I am aware that the landscape plan will provide additional planting on the boundary with the road resulting in trees of higher amenity value given their location. It would also be prudent to plant two additional trees in the area identified on the map to offset the loss of the Yew and maintain a continuous canopy cover. Recommended replacement species in this area would be Wild Service Tree and Small Leaf Lime.

The Old Vicarage, Church Road, Great Milton, OX44 7PB

  15. Decision MadeP25/S3774/TCA

Aspen - T1 - Remove leaning tree due to concern about the proximity to the road, utility wires and car parking area. The tree owner has had 2 aspens of a similar size fail in the past 12 months, one of which failed across the road causing significant disruption locally with traffic and power outage; the other narrowly missing their workshop. The risk is causing notable anxiety for the owner.

Overview: Mature group of Beech trees on boundary once a formal hedge that has now lapsed into trees. An attractive street scene setting of high amenity value, their close proximity to each other means the group would benefit from reduction to maintain their current size. Specification: 1. Group of Beech comprised of 5 trees. a. Reduce height of crowns by 2.5m b. Reduce lateral spread by 2m particularly roadside 2. Lawson a. Lift over footpath to maintain statutory clearance.
