  14. Decision MadeP23/S3642/TPO

Pruning New Beech tree: Cut back all overhanging branches towards the boundary by approx. 2.5m and blend in with remaining canopy, remove the lower branches to raise the canopy up to 4.5m. NB: Please note pruning must be taken to growth points to avoid damage to the tree. Safety and Play Area Utilization: Overhanging branches can pose risks to children and others using the play area. By trimming these branches, we ensure that the space below is safe for recreational activities. Optimal Sunlight: Trees, especially large ones like the Beech, can cast significant shade. Pruning overhanging branches can allow more sunlight to reach the play area, promoting healthier grass growth and creating a brighter space for activities. Structural Integrity: Regular pruning can improve a tree's structural integrity by removing weak or dead branches. This ensures the tree's overall health and reduces the chances of branches falling unexpectedly. Mitigating Storm Damage: By pruning the tree, we're reducing its vulnerability during adverse weather conditions. Removing weak or extended branches can prevent them from breaking off during strong winds or heavy rain. Maintaining Growth Control: Trees, when left unchecked, can grow beyond desirable dimensions. Pruning will help control the tree's size, ensuring that it doesn't get too large for the space. Garden Health: Trees can suppress the growth of plants below them by blocking sunlight and utilizing nutrients from the soil. By pruning the Beech tree, we can reduce this suppressive effect and promote a healthier garden ecosystem. Aesthetics and Health: Proper pruning techniques, like cutting back to growth points, help maintain the tree's aesthetics and health. Incorrect cuts can damage the tree, making it susceptible to diseases. By raising the canopy up to 4.5m and blending in with the remaining canopy, we ensure that the tree remains visually appealing while also promoting its health. In summary, the proposed pruning of the New Beech tree is a balanced approach to ensure safety, tree health, and overall aesthetics, while also prioritizing the well-being of the surrounding environment.
