When tested with nylon sounding hammer the majority of wood around the circumference of the base was sound. There was a small amount of associated decay around the fungal fruiting bodies but nothing to be alarmed about. The majority of the wood around the base offered a good solid sound suggesting that there is plenty of live unaffected wood to offer structural integrity. Looking into the crown there is good bud formation and overall healthy appearance would suggest that my decay detection findings are correct. Ganoderma australe when advanced can lead to mechanical failure at the base so this tree should be re inspected every 3 years. It is important this tree keeps a prolific leaf area to be able to create the energy it needs to continue to lay down defences and strengthen areas affected by this pathogen. A crown reduction would definitely benefit the loading from external forces but plenty of leaf bearing structure must remain. Therefore I recommend a crown reduction of 2m back suitable branch unions.No obj CA works0application · Linked by the council
