Council planning record

Most of the principal trees in the gardens of Smalls House have been historically reduced to keep them in scale with the gardens. The regrowth from the last reductions has reached the point where it is required to be pruned again. In addition to these works there are several trees requiring remedial pruning work due to structural defects. G1 - Ash and Walnut to prune away from powerlines, and prune Walnut away from adjacent Yew hedge to give approximately 1m clearance. Elder and Privet on Eastern edge of group damaging stone steps to remove to ground level. G2 - Ailanthus and Catalpa to reduce by 2.5 - 3.5m back to previous. G3 - Willow by road to reduce lateral spread towards road by approx 2m. T1 - Hackberry, bifurcation at near ground level with included union. Reduce height and lateral spread by 2-3m to reduce risk of failure. T2 - Manna Ash, multiple recent limb failures, reduce height and lateral spread by 2-3m. T3 - Large Apple on corner of barn - extensive cavities with Inonotus fruiting bodies present, reduce lateral limbs by approximately 2m to create more compact template and reduce risk of failure. T4 - Alder to reduce by 2-3m back to previous. T5 - Apple - extensive cavities with Inonotus fruiting bodies present, reduce lateral limbs by approximately 2m to create more compact template and reduce risk of failure. T6 - Small Maple to reduce lateral spread by 0.5-1m, tapering into top. T7 - Hazel to reduce by 2-3m back to previous. T8 - Damson to remove basal suckers and reduce height by up to 3m.
