Council planning record

T1, T2, T3. Willow (TPO G4) - Pollard each tree at a height of around 6.5 metres using natural branch unions as appropriate to create new pollard growth points. This work is in order to begin a regime of pollard management for these trees because they have decay developing from an original lower pollard point of around 4 meters on each tree. The photos that accompany this application show numerous cavities and areas subject to decay that seem to originate from the trees having been topped or pollarded at around 4 meters at an early age. Reducing the height to around 6 meters will remove any risk of tree failure for the forseeable future and can set a height at which these trees can be pollarded back to in future years. (We anticipate this work may need to be repeated on a 5 yearly cycle.) The future lifespan of the trees will not be negatively affected by managing the trees in this way. The trees will also be less overbearing on the house and garden if managed in this way which will be an additional benefit.
