Council planning record

The proposed development is to erect two new flag poles adjacent to the existing pole at the front of A Block, County Hall. The proposal is to support a requirement for all public buildings to fly the union flag from this summer 2021. In addition SCC would then be able to fly the Somerset Flag and the Union flag at all times and retain a third flag for the numerous celebratory and recognition days that SCC has always supported. The new poles are proposed to be 10 metres in height and will be of a similar style to the existing. For installation purposes they will be fixed to a secure stanchion at 2650mm centres either side of the existing flag pole.
