The existing signage, by reason of its size in comparison to its surroundings, is a prominent feature that is out of scale with, and does not relate well to its immediate surroundings or to nearby buildings. This is made more apparent when read against the backdrop of the existing petrol filling station and considering the removal of surrounding trees which provided a buffer to neighbouring residential properties. The signage is harmful to the appearance of the street scene, harmful to the amenities of the area, and fails to comply with National Planning Policy Framework, Policy EN11 of The Adopted Local Plan for Slough, 2004, and Core Policy 8 of The Slough Local Development Framework, Core Strategy 2006-2026, Development Plan Document, December 2008.
It is the view of the Local Planning Authority that the proposed development does not improve the economic, social and environmental conditions of the area for the reasons given in this notice and it is not in accordance with the National Planning Policy Framework.
The application relates to the proposed advertisement and no other development on site.
