2 of 2 In the first instance, we refer you to the section titled ‘What development proposals are unlikely to increase nutrient levels within a river SAC?’ Please note that this advice is equally applicable to marine SACs. If having considered that Advice, your Authority is satisfied that this development should be screened out as not likely to have a significant effect, we would raise no further concerns in respect of nutrient impacts. If is not possible to screen the development out, an Appropriate Assessment should be undertaken, and we should be re-consulted. If insufficient information is provided to demonstrate that there will be no adverse effect, we may object to this planning application. Advice for developer If the private sewage treatment system is not eligible for an exemption, the Applicant will need to apply for an environmental permit, further details can be found here. Should a permit be required further information may be needed as part of that application process. It is important to note that a grant of planning permission does not guarantee that a permit will be granted. A proposal may be deemed unacceptable either because of environmental risk or because upon further investigation, a connection to mains sewer was feasible. Applicants are encouraged to ensure they have all the required permissions, consents, permits and any other approvals in place prior to commencement of works on the site.
