Tree Code: Sgl/008020 Species: Tilia x europaea (Common Lime)Recommended Works: Sectional fell to approximately 1 metre above ground level, retaining the stump as a deadwood habitat.Reason for Removal: The tree is exhibiting significant structural decline and instability, including:Extensive basal cavity and decay affecting the stem base and root plate.Multiple large Ganoderma fruiting bodies around the tree circumference, indicating extensive internal decay.Evidence of root damage, root plate instability and potential root failure.Cracked, lifting and necrotic bark on both the stem and roots.Canker-like growth on a root buttress suggesting underlying dysfunctional tissue development.Crossing branches, a tight fork union and associated structural weaknesses.Surface root disruption and exposed roots.Epicormic growth within the crown, consistent with physiological stress.Given the extent of decay and evidence of structural failure, retention of the tree is no longer considered appropriate, and removal is recommended on safety grounds.

Holly - FellSelf-seeded tree is around 30 years old and had a trunk diameter of 20cm at a hight of 1.5m from the ground. The tree has grown in the joint of the stone garden steps and is lifting and splitting the steps. The tree is around 5m tall now and has been infested with ivy that itself has been killed and is entwined at the crown and infeasible to remove.I would like to fell the tree, remove the stump and restore the original garden steps, that have character.

Sycamore (T1) - remove any minor shoots where previous lower branches have been removed and sealSycamore (T2) - remove any minor shoots where previous lower branches have been removed and sealSycamore (T3) - remove any minor shoots where previous lower branches have been removed and sealSycamore (T4) - lift the crown of the tree to the northeast side of the tree (furthest from the house) up by approx 4-5m, so the canopy lines matches trees T1-3, T5 and allow more light onto the bottom end of the garden. This portion of the tree is not visible from the road.Sycamore (T5) - remove 4-5 offshoot branches from right fork of tree (when looking from the house) which over hang neighbours garden and are very close to their roof (see photo for additional information)Pine (T6) - proposed to be felled to ground level. Reason: the needles collect and hold dust which severely affects two of the residents who have hay fever and asthma. The tree being a pine is out of keeping with the rest of the sycamore group. It blocks the low level views through the main sycamore trees to the bottom end of the garden. It does not affect the main tree grouping from the road (see marked up photo from the road). Trees are within G1 of TPO 55. Overall sycamore trees are to be crown lifted no more than 4 to 5 metres.

  19. Decided26/01427/PWC

Removal of four Ilex aquifolium (Common Holly), stump grinding, and replacement with a native pleached Carpinus betulus (Hornbeam) hedge. The proposal will improve the appearance, functionality and long-term landscape contribution of the frontage while preserving and enhancing the character of the Conservation Area. The four existing holly trees are small specimens of limited arboricultural and amenity value. They display poor form, including irregular crowns, uneven growth and sparse foliage, resulting in a weak and unmanaged appearance. As such, they make only a minor contribution to the streetscape and do not form part of a significant landscape feature, historic planting scheme or important tree group. The proposal represents a clear enhancement rather than a loss of tree cover. The hollies will be replaced with a formally managed pleached hornbeam hedge. Hornbeam is a native species widely used in historic landscapes and Conservation Areas due to its longevity, strong visual structure and excellent tolerance of pruning. The replacement planting will provide a more cohesive and sustainable landscape feature, delivering greater visual amenity, improved frontage screening and a stronger contribution to the character and appearance of the Conservation Area.

What these statistics cover

These figures describe applications collected by PlanningTrack for Nottingham City Council, across all dates currently available. They are a partial dataset, rather than an authority-wide performance measure. The date range does not establish continuous historical coverage.

The approval percentage is approved records divided by approved plus refused records. Pending, withdrawn and unknown outcomes are excluded. No percentage is shown until there is an approved or refused record.
