The cedar tree on the East boundary wall of the garden, adjacent to South Road, is dying (final stages - really very few distal green spines on less than 10% of the tree, otherwise completely bare). A Tree Surgeon (Sam Wass, https://samwasstreesurgeons.com) has identified the cause as bleeding canker, which has been progressive and is terminal. The only treatment is felling of this tree unfortunately and I would rather it were done quickly to prevent any secondary problems.

  20. Decided25/02166/5DAY

T1 Ash tree:Large mature tree subject possibly to a Tree Preservation Order. TPO114-T9.The tree has sustained significant damage during recent high winds where a large section has broken away from the main stem. The stem itself and most of the tree canopy is entirely Ivy covered making it impossible to see if or how extensive the damage to the tree is. There is a high chance of internal decay present due to the age of the tree. The Ivy will no doubt be a contributing factor to the failure of the tree, increasing the wind resistance and adding excessive weight to the tree especially during wet and windy weather events. The section that fell has landed upon a domestic electricity cable which serves stables in the adjacent farm yard. This also caused the gable end of an old barn to fall which it was attached to.It is my recommendation that an emergency five day notification is submitted to Nottingham City Planning to have the tree pollarded to 5m in height and the Ivy severed at the base. This will make the tree stable so the electricity cable can be reinstalled and the tree can be inspected in more detail to see if it needs felling completely.

[T1] Pinus sylvestrisFast growing species likely outgrow current position of close proximity to house. To retain tree in current position suggested works to include:- Complete canopy reduction of up to 1/3. Reduce height to by approximately 3m as marked on photograph. Reduce retained branches back to appropriate replacements to complement natural silhouette.- Crown clean any dead dying, diseased, crossing or otherwise compromised branch-wood.Remove all arisings[T2] Ilex aquifoliumHistorically hard pruned and then height left unpruned. In close proximity to permanent structures. For regular maintenance following work suggested:- Reduce tree height by 3/4m to previous pruning points of approximately 50% of current crown height. Prune sides as tightly as possible to promote oval shape.Remove all arisings [T3] Prunus AviumJuvenile, maiden tree. Formal pruning to establish future shape, structure and remove erroneous growth.Remove all arisings [T4] Acer palmatumJuvenile, maiden tree. Formal pruning to establish future shape, structure and remove erroneous growth.Remove all arisings [H1] Ilex aquifolium- Shrub, reduce height by approximately 0.5m. What these statistics cover

These figures describe applications collected by PlanningTrack for Nottingham City Council, across all dates currently available. They are a partial dataset, rather than an authority-wide performance measure. The date range does not establish continuous historical coverage.

The approval percentage is approved records divided by approved plus refused records. Pending, withdrawn and unknown outcomes are excluded. No percentage is shown until there is an approved or refused record.
