Reason for approval The application is satisfactory in that the design and appearance of the proposed garden pods, greenhouse and storage sheds and associated hard and oft landscaping accords with the principles of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and, where appropriate, the Council has worked with the applicant in a positive and proactive way in line with paragraph 38 of the NPPF (2025). In addition, the proposed garden pods, greenhouse and storage sheds and associated hard and oft landscaping accord with the Local policy requirements (policies CS4 and CS5 of the Councils Local Development Framework) and the emerging Local Plan In particular, the proposed garden pods, greenhouse and storage sheds and associated hard and oft landscaping are designed so that their appearance is complementary to the surrounding hospital buildings and will not have a detrimental impact on the appearance of the existing hospital building or the wider street scene or on the amenity of the users of the existing hospital building. The application is therefore considered to be acceptable, fully in accordance with the relevant policy guidance and there are no material considerations which indicate that the application should be refused.
