- Adverse impact on the character and appearance of the property and of the area. In the opinion of the Local Planning Authority, the proposed side extension would adversely affect and remove positive characteristics of this high quality housing layout due to the breaking of symmetry and reduction in the character defining gap between properties at first floor, contrary to Local Development Plan Policies DC1 (b) (General Development), CS5 (c&f) (Design), the Middlesbrough Design Guide, and the Marton West Neighbourhood Plan.
