FRONT: ONE Eucalyptus (T1)(ht.10-11m) FELL. Reason: planted 8 years ago, the tree has grown much more than expected, is tall and in any wind tends to sway wildly, concern that in a storm it will snap, causing serious damage to our property, our neighbours or vehicles parked in the street (this happened recently with one of the trees on the green, less than 100m up the road), plan is to replace with a cherry tree, which will match many of the existing trees in the street.REAR SIDE: ONE Cherry (T2)(ht.6-7m) FELL.Reason: unfortunately this lovely old tree is almost dead, with only the uppermost branches holding any remaining foliage. This would be replaced by another cherry tree. REAR SIDE: ONE Bay tree (T3)(ht.2m) FELL.Reason: this tree is also dying, with many empty foliage areas, dieback on all sides and has already been cut back a bit for safety reasons. This will be replaced by another tree on the recommended list for the Lock Chase/Lee Park area, as proposed by the council. REAR SIDE: ONE Apple (T4)(ht.4m) CROWN REDUCE HEIGHT by 1-2m to ht.2-3m, LATERAL REDUCE by 1-2m. Reason: this will be crowned, to remove overhanging branches growing over the boundary into three neighbouring backyards. Informative A: retaining the Eucalyptus (T1)(ht.10-11m) is encouraged with pollard/height reduction of approx.5m to ht.5-6m. The nearby Eucalyptus at front of no.49 on opposite side of the road is managed with crown reduction to retain streetscape amenity, if felled suggest the proposed cherry replacement is the wild cherry (Prunus avium) or The Great White cherry (Prunus Taihaku); other species to consider: Harlequin Glorybower (Clerodendrum trichotomum), Persian Silk tree (Albizia julibrissin), Cape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica), Magnolia Kobus, The Bee Bee tree (Tetradium daniellii). Informative B: the proposed replacement tree planting is hugely appreciated for amenity, wildlife and shade to reduce increasingly high summer temperatures due to climate change. Informative C: other suggested replacement species for (T2,T3): crab apple, pear, quince (Cydonia oblonga), medlar, Magnolia stellata, Witch hazel, Cornus mas, Amelanchier, hawthorn. Informative D: please create habitat log piles with arisings for wildlife and biodiversity.

FRONT: ONE Holly (T1) (ht.6.5m) FELL and replace. Reason: severe structural defect, leaning at an approximately 40-degree angle, presenting a risk of failure, beneath telephone wires, Stem 1 diameter 14 cm / Stem 2 diameter 12 cm. FRONT: ONE Hawthorn (T2) (ht. 6.5m) FELL and replace. REASON: wood-boring insect infestation which has damaged the lower part of the tree, beneath telephone wires Stem 1 diameter 9 cm / Stem 2 diameter 6 cm.REPLANTING PROPOSAL: Due to the overhead telecommunications wires, replanting high-forest trees in this exact location is unfeasible. To maintain canopy cover and support local biodiversity in this shaded area, it proposed that the felled trees will be replaced with a shade-tolerant, native woody shrub that respects the height restrictions of the wires, such as a Guelder Rose (Viburnum opulus) or Hazel (Corylus avellana).Informative A: the replacement shrub planting is hugely appreciated for amenity, wildlife and shade to reduce increasingly high summer temperatures due to climate change. Informative B: please retain high stump of decayed hawthorn (T2) and create habitat log piles with arisings for wildlife and biodiversity.

FRONT (to main path from Horniman Drive): ONE Maple (T1)(ht.16m) CROWN REDUCE by 4m from 16m to 12m. SPREAD by 4m from 9m to 5m.REASON: A mature maple showing significant dieback throughout the crown, in a physiologically and structurally poor condition. The tree is in a prominent and visually significant location, close to and overhanging a newly created public path and garden, presenting a health and safety risk from deadwood and reduced structural integrity. The crown will be reduced to remove this risk and improve the tree's overall condition. CENTRAL (by Sunken Garden): ONE Maple (T2)(ht.6m) FELL.REASON: A young maple in physiological decline and dying, with limited prospects of recovery. Removal is proposed to eliminate the risk posed by the failing specimen. A replacement tree of a species tolerant of drought conditions and suited to a changing climate will be planted in its place, to future-proof the site's tree stock.Informative A: the replacement tree planting for T2 is hugely appreciated, with drought tolerant species, suggested species such as Gleditsia triacanthos, Koelreuteria paniculata, Turkish hazel, Kentucky Coffee Tree (Gymnocladus dioica), Liquidambar, Bee-bee Tree (Tetradium daniellii), Persian Silk Tree (Albizia julibrissin), Crape Myrtle (Lagerstomia indica), Orange Bark Myrtle (Luma apiculate) for amenity, wildlife and shade to reduce increasingly high summer temperatures due to climate change. T1 - Lime - crown reduce 8m in height. Reduce height by 2m from 8m to 6m. Reduce laterals by 1m from 5m to 4m on all compass points. A semi-mature lime in the front garden, growing close to the property and the neighbouring boundary. The tree has been previously reduced and the works will retain the established reduction points to maintain the existing crown shape and form. The reduction will keep the tree in proportion to its restricted position, reduce end-weight on regrowth from previous cuts, and manage shading and encroachment towards the building. T2 - Ash - crown reduce 8m in height. Reduce height by 2m from 8m to 6m. Reduce laterals by 1m from 5m to 4m on all compass points. A semi-mature ash to the rear of the property, growing in a confined position between the building and the boundary. The tree has been previously reduced and the works will retain the established reduction points to maintain the existing crown shape and form. The reduction will keep the tree in proportion to its surroundings, reduce end-weight on extended regrowth, and maintain clearance from the adjacent structures. T3 - Yew hedge - reduce height 7m in height. Reduce height by 2m from 7m to 5m. No reduction to lateral spread. An established yew hedge on the boundary of the garden. The height reduction will bring the hedge back to a manageable and maintainable height while retaining its full screening function and boundary form. Yew responds well to reduction and the works will not affect the long-term health of the hedge. T4 - Cherry - crown reduce 7m in height. Reduce height by 2m from 7m to 5m. Reduce laterals by 1m from 5m to 4m on all compass points. A young cherry in the front garden adjacent to the highway, overhanging the footpath and the neighbouring property. The reduction will keep the tree in proportion to its position, reduce end-weight on the lower lateral limbs extending over the footway, and maintain the tree at a size appropriate to the small front garden setting.

What these statistics cover

These figures describe applications collected by PlanningTrack for London Borough of Lewisham, across all dates currently available. They are a partial dataset, rather than an authority-wide performance measure. The date range does not establish continuous historical coverage.

The approval percentage is approved records divided by approved plus refused records. Pending, withdrawn and unknown outcomes are excluded. No percentage is shown until there is an approved or refused record.
