Oak T1: i) Crown reduction: Shorten the radial spread by approx. 2m (from an average of 7.5m to an average of 5.5m) and by up to 3m where suitable growth points allow (see below*). Reduce in height by approx. 2m, as required to re-shape the canopy. *Pruning back to growth points at least 1/3 the diameter of the parent branch. Pruning wounds should have a diameter of of <100mm to avoid the exposing heartwood to the spores of heartwood decay fungi and should ideally be no larger than 50mm if possible. ii) Crown lift to provide a ground clearance of 4-5m, by removing low-hanging secondary branches.SUBJECT TO TPO 1147 (2.9.1994)
