Decision & conditions

Refuse Tree Consent For
T_26_101617 PL_Final Decision
Planning conditions
  1. REFUSE CONSENT: 1no. Oak (T1) - Crown reduce by 3 - 4m in all directions. Reduce height by 4m. No greater than 75mm prune wound diameter. REASON FOR REFUSAL: 1. The application oak is a large, long-lived native tree which has the potential to provide long-term contribution to public, visual amenity. It is prominent on entry to Stanier Way and clearly visible from surrounding roads. As such, strong justification must be provided before major pruning works can be consented. The application states that the proposal originates from a Tree Condition Assessment carried out by Technical Arboriculture; this advice has not been provided. As such, it is unclear why the sail area should be reduced and why such works would maintain the health and longevity of this tree. On the face of it, the works would be disfiguring and visible across a wide area. In the absence of sufficient justification, the application has been refused consent. The Council would be happy to consider a new application supported by the above-mentioned Tree Condition Assessment.
