Reason: The proposal to fell T2 has been made on the basis that it is alleged to have fungal fruiting bodies of Kretzschmaria deusta or Hypoxylon multiforme. Neither are present; the area of concern is a section of scorched wood. As such, there is no justification to fell the tree. Whilst by no means a prominent specimen, it still contributes to the overall verdant character of the area and it’s loss would only degrade this feature.
CONSENT TO: 1no. Sweet Chestnut (T1) – Fell
One replacement tree is required to replace T1 (sweet chestnut). The replacement tree shall be planted within 3m of the removed tree. It shall be either hornbeam (Carpinus betulus), Freemans maple (Acer x freemanii), small-leaved lime (Tilia cordata) or any other tree species as first agreed in writing by the Council. The replacement tree shall be a minimum of 8-10cm girth and 250-300cm tall (BS3936-1:1992 'standard') when planted. It shall be planted and maintained in accordance with BS8545:2014. Tree planting must take place as soon as possible after the tree removal and no later than the end of the following planting season (October - February). Should the replacement tree die or in the opinion of the Council, become seriously defective within three years of planting, it shall be replaced in the next available planting season. This condition will apply to subsequent replacement trees. Reason: To conserve the character of the locality.
The tree works hereby consented shall be completed within 2 years of the date of this permission and shall be carried out in accordance with the approved details and to British Standard for Tree Work BS3998:2010
