Decision & conditions

Refuse Tree Consent For
T_25_100304 PL_Final Decision
Planning conditions
  1. REFUSE PERMISSION: 1no. Oak (T1) (south edge of plot) - Reduction of tree by 2m all over to maintain shape and size in the area. Reason for refusal: The application oak is prominent in the street-scene, offering long-term benefit in terms of public, visual amenity. In general terms, the higher the amenity value of the tree and the greater the impact of the application on the amenity of the area, the stronger the reasons needed before consent is granted. The reason specified for the reduction is to maintain its shape and size in the area. The tree has not long been reduced and has only around 1m of regrowth in most directions. There seems ample space around the tree and it does not seem disproportionately large in relation to its surroundings. The proposed reduction would go beyond the previous reduction points, removing a large amount of twig and foliage-bearing branches as well as the newly established reduction points. This would be harmful to the overall health of the tree, leaving it vulnerable to environmental stress, potentially shortening its life expectancy and contribution to the amenities of the area.
