- The proposed two-storey side extension, due to its substantial size, non-subservient design, and introduction of an additional entrance door, would disrupt the symmetry and balance of the row of terraced dwellings, adversely impacting the established character of the Aviary Estate Special Policy Area. The proposals are therefore contrary to Policies DM1 and E10 of the Eastleigh Borough Local Plan (2016-2036), the Character Area Appraisal for Eastleigh (2008), and the contents of the National Planning Policy Framework (2023).
- Note to Applicant: The application was refused following the assessment of the following plans: 2072.002B, 2072.004, 2072.003B and 2072.001B. In accordance with paragraph 38 of the National Planning Policy Framework (September 2023), Eastleigh Borough Council takes a positive approach to the handling of development proposals so as to achieve, whenever possible, a positive outcome and to ensure all proposals are dealt with in a timely manner.
