Decision Notice
Planning conditions
  1. The proposed works would result in an unacceptable loss of visual amenity and would adversely affect the form and character of a prominent and high-value protected tree. The justification provided is insufficient to outweigh the significant amenity contribution of the tree, and the proposed level of reduction is considered excessive and not in accordance with sound arboricultural practice. As such, the proposal is contrary to the objectives of Tree Preservation Order legislation, which seeks to safeguard trees of public amenity value. Informative: The Local Planning Authority may be amenable to a revised application proposing limited and clearly specified pruning works to achieve a modest clearance (circa 2-3 metres) from the roofline, provided such works are supported by appropriate arboricultural justification and carried out in accordance with BS3998:2010
