Application overview
The site was used for the tipping and levelling of colliery spoil. no restoration work was carried out on the land and it has been left uneven and lacking topsoil or subsoil.There is uncontrolled discharge of drainage water from the site into Eel Sike watercourse with the potential to reduce water quality. The proposal is to use soil fromconstruction sites to re-profile the land and return it to a fit state for agriculture with the intention of producing biofuel for a local biomass plant. The re-profiling will aidmachinery access and discourage deep percolation of water and reduce through drainage into the mining spoil. Reedbeds will be installed to treat any outfall water.
