Proposed improvement and refurbishment of the existing building, comprising external changes to provide step-free access including an automated entrance and new handrail, introductions of lift overruns and smoke extract fans, replacement of gas-fired boilers with water source heat pumps and new plant machinery including screening and replacement of roof coverings, and repair of sash windows, and internal changes comprising introduction of insulation throughout the building, upgrades to lighting, introduction of mechanical extraction, step-free access improvements inside the building, installation of new lifts, demolition and removal of internal fabric including walls, floors, doors, fireplaces and chimney breasts, introduction of smoke vent shafts and service risers alongside partitioning for evacuation and firefighting lifts, introduction of fire compartmentation alongside upgrades to flooring, new WC and shower facilities in addition to improvements to end of trip facilities, removal or retention or restoration of interior features, changes to interior finishes, basement level plant and new water-proofing, and associated works.
