Council planning record

Removal of 5 mature London Plane trees as identified on Document 1 and replacement planting of 5 new London Plane trees in appropriate tree pits as close to the original location of the existing trees as practicable.Trees need to be removed in order to safely progress the consented re-paving scheme of the area as part of Lincoln Transport Hub as following an incident on Wednesday 28 June 2017, a tree of the same species, condition and within the same environment as the remaining trees, fell.Whilst investigations are still ongoing into the incident, there is sufficient evidence already to suggest that should work continue, there are no measures that can be taken that would ensure that the remaining trees would not fall down either as an immediate consequence of starting the works or at some time in the future. The location of the trees within a train station forecourt and adjacent to a public footpath and highway represent therefore a significant danger to people and property if the repaving works in the area as part of the consented Transport Hub scheme continue (please see Document 2 - Statement of Reasons for photographs and further details).
