Council planning record

Works: 1. Horse Chestnut - Reduce crown by 1.5m and remove deadwood.2. Pine - Reduce height by 5m and bring in sides by 1.5m where possible.3. Ash - Early stages of ADB, recommended felling of the tree. 4. Crimson King - Remove low limb over garden and reduce remainder of crown by 2.5m. The reductions are to be undertaken using reduction via thinning where possible.RVT - involves the removal of a primary foliage bearing branches back to naturally occurring pruning points within the crown to subtly reduce and thin the canopy. The method removes small percentages of the foliage bearing branches back to the best, naturally occurring pruning points within the canopy as per BS3998.Justification:The trees 1, 2 and 4 play an important part of the garden and the tree owner wishes to retain them in a safe manner while keeping them at a suitable size. Regular sensitive reductions of the tree will maintain a viable leaf bearing crowns and enable the trees at a size so that it can continue to be an asset. The ash tree 3 is showing the early signs of Ash Die Back disease. ADB is a serious disease of ash trees caused by the fungus Hymenoscyphus fraxineus (previously called Chalara fraxinea). The disease causes leaf loss and crown dieback in affected trees and can lead to the death of the tree. Trees that are killed by ADB can become dangerous, and could be a threat to the train line. Due to the trees location it would be difficult to access with a MEWP and removing the tree once it is dead would be very challenging and expensive, possibly requiring the temporary closure of the train train line. It therefore makes sense to remove the tree before it becomes a threat.
