Crab-apple - we want to fell this because the fruit causes disruption to the community use of the Church Tower and stains/damages our carved stone seat and paving. The apples require high levels of maintenance to avoid becoming a slip hazard for visitors to the site. The site is looked after by volunteers with limited time available and dealing with the fruit from this tree constitutes a very considerable amount of the ground maintenance time we have available to us. Crushed fruit (stood on by visitors) is transfered onto the floor of the church tower where there are important gravestones, causing futher problems of maintenance.
