The upgrading/maintenance of the existing track will facilitate timber haulage from Byfre forest to the local sawmills as part of the first phase of harvesting form this remote forest area. The upgrade is required to improve the road surface with stone won on site to ensure haulage has minimal effect on the local environment and water is managed in line with best practice. All works will be carried out in line with Tilhill Forestry's ISO 9001, 14001 and 19001 accreditation. This application is for 2 borrow pits to extract stone for the road re-surfacing. Both borrow pits already exist. Following a site visit and production of a clear method statement, Natural Resources Wales have given SSSI consent to use both borrow pits to extract stone for the road from these 2 sites and the road re-surfacing. I have attached the consent.
