Council planning record

The silver birch is approx 15m tall. The top 50% is dead including the main trunk. The tree has been crowded out and starved of water and light for some years. The single remaining main live branch grows out north-west at an angle. This is now growing over the end of the driveway so presents a future risk to people/cars below. We have consulted an arborist/surgeon (James at Higgins Tree and Land Management). He previously did a fantastic job on a nearby yew on same boundary. He recommends removal of birch. Reduction work has already been applied for adjacent Yew which in on next door property, 48B High Street. (T1 on plan: application no: 26/02074/TPC refers.) This tree is currently causing overall light deprivation to all nearby trees as well as cottage. The adjacent trees (copper beech, beech, hornbeam) were planted as a mixed hedge by looks of it when houses built and were not tended when young so have now all outgrown their space.
