Council planning record

Mature beech tree: This tree is very large. It produces a vast amount of beech nuts in early Autumn followed by the leaves in early winter. In Spring, as the new leaves emerge we get a fall of tiny, wispy matter. It requires a tremendous amount of work to collect and remove the tree matter from the property. Up to 8 cubic meter builders bags each year. This constant shedding of the tree blocks our guttering and requires regular maintenance. The tree is located very close to and leans towards our house (3 metres). In high winds the branches break and drop on to our slate roof causing damage. In 10 years of ownership we have maintained the tree. We have reduced the crown on three occasions. But it is now of a size where we feel it might be time to fell the tree. This application is to carry out one further crown reduction of 30-40% this year, with a view to removing the tree completely in the next 1-2 years. Crown thinning to reduce density by 30%. Crown reduction: height reduction of 3-5 meters; width reduction of 2-3 meters. As with other tree work carried out in our garden, we have always planted new trees and will do the same in this instance.
