Lys Mill Farm Buildings, near Watlington, OX49 5EP

    Received 16 Mar 2026
  19. Decision MadeP24/S2315/TCA

The tree's proximity to the house is causing damage to the foundations and as a large proportion of the tree is on/over the thatch it is causing damage to the thatch. We believe that for safety reasons and to prevent further damage to the house we are proposing that the tree is taken down. A whole crown reduction would not be enough to provide sufficient clearance of the property. We will of course use a suitably qualified tree surgeon to do this. We have already contacted an arborists to assess and advise. Our aim will be to replace this tree with another tree that is at a safe distance from the house. On the attached plan the tree is marked T1. The tree is a European beech tree.

  24. Decision MadeP26/S0953/TCA

T1 Goat Willow - Fell to ground level. Reason for Works: The tree is located within the rear pub garden and is considered unsuitable for this setting. It produces a significant number of catkins, which fall to the ground, creating a slippery surface when wet and resulting in a considerable amount of debris on a regular basis. In addition, goat willow is known to attract wasps during the summer months, which unfortunately coincides with the garden's peak period of use. For these reasons, removal of the tree is considered the most appropriate management option.

What these statistics cover

These figures describe applications collected by PlanningTrack for South Oxfordshire District Council, across all dates currently available. They are a partial dataset, rather than an authority-wide performance measure. The date range does not establish continuous historical coverage.

The approval percentage is approved records divided by approved plus refused records. Pending, withdrawn and unknown outcomes are excluded. No percentage is shown until there is an approved or refused record.
