Council planning record

This is in relation to the sole Tree to the front or North side of the Property at 30 Blackstone Rd. The Tree is a Cockspur Thorn (Crataegus crus-galli). Two of the bigger limbs of the Tree has died, there are numerous Branches within the Tree that have crossed each other and are rubbing, opening the Tree up to disease and infection. If the dead Limbs were to be removed they would leave a sizeable gap within the shape of the Tree. Having taken professional guidance from David Cottrell at David Cottrell Tree Surgery (Fitzcount Way, Wallingford, OX10), he states that the Tree has outgrown it's current position. He has also confirmed that the Tree is very congested, with Branches crossing at various points. Also to consider is that each year during the Autumn, there is a massive drop of the fruit from the Tree, much of which falls on to the pavement and Highway of Blackstone Rd, and as can be seen in the attached photos, does cause a Health & Safety slip hazard on the Pavement, as there is a large amount of pedestrians using the path to get to and from Wallingford School and Dog walkers going to and from Castle Meadows and a skid hazard on the Highway. It also looks very unsightly and detracts greatly from the amenity value of the Tree. In light of the aforementioned advice from the Tree Surgeon, the Health & Safety considerations and affect on the Amenity value offered by this Tree during the Autumn, this Application is to request a Remove and Replace action on the Tree - to remove it from the front of the Property and to replace the Tree with a Silver Birch (Betula Pendula) to the rear of the Property at 30 Blackstone Rd (noted on the Sketch Plan).
