Council planning record

I have two split trunk leylandii trees, which are currently about 8 - 10 metres high. They need to be reduced or potentially removed. One tree has developed a lea, and the other damaged branches. The trees are very fast growing and expensive to maintain - they have killed a 1/4 of the garden and drop onto neighbouring gardens. I have been advised to either remove the trees to allow light, and as a more cost effective measure or to reduce by 50%. I have spoken and got quotes from three arborists who have all advised the same. I am keen to ensure that there is no risk to damage of my property or neighbours by the existing trees. I would not be looking to replace the trees, as my garden is already heavily impacted by a neighbouring Eucalyptus tree, so replacing the trees would in due course bring further challenges.
