Council planning record

The plan (sundial tree.jpeg) illustrates the location of the trees in Sundial Cottage's front garden. The trees are within the boundary of my property. They appear to have originally been planted as part of a hedge. The property was left vacant for a number of years by the previous owners, which has allowed these trees to become oversized for the setting. The main purpose of the proposed works is to reduce the risk to the power and telephone cables that intersect the trees (3 telephone and 2 power at various heights between 4m and 6 m above ground); also, to increase light into the living room of Sundial Cottage, and the kitchen of the neighbouring property, which currently sit in semi-permanent darkness and need lights switched-on even in the middle of the day. Tree one - Yew is sited about 6.5m from the house and is approximately 6m+ tall. Planned works - We have been advised by an arborist to remove this tree, by uprooting. This will be replaced by a deciduous tree species (such as hawthorn, maintained as a hedge), providing shelter and food for insects and birds. Tree two - Holly Tree planted next to Yew tree (about 8m from house) and at least 8m+ tall. Planned works - To lift the crown, by removing the branches upto 6m in order to clear the power and telephone cables.
