Council planning record

T1 Beech. Remove tree. This tree has significant decay through the main bole from ground level upwards. There is an open cavity at a height of around 2 meters and this is colonised with Kretschmaria deusta. The main stem is markedly swollen to a height of around 2.5 meters. This appears to be a response to internal decay (a tree response generally known as bottle butt). The condition and suitability for retention of this tree has been considered by your senior tree officer Matt Gulliford who attended site on 18/01/22 as part of a pre-application site meeting, Ref: P21/S5239/PEO. Mr Gulliford made the following comments about this tree : "T5 Is a significant mature Beech, which sadly shows evidence with a fungal disease known to degrade the structural condition of the wood. Considering these factors, I do not consider the trees to be of sufficient arboricultural quality to be considered as a constraint to development."
