Council planning record

Application to fell a large horse chestnut which is almost dead, located in the north western corner of the grounds of Crowland Abbey adjacent to the car park. A few potentially viable buds are present throughout the crown, but the tree is unlikely to come into leaf next spring. A section of the crown on the northern side of the tree did not come into leaf in the spring of 2013, although the buds were fully formed and green. The remainder of the tree came into leaf but lacked any vigour. The foliage of the tree declined over the summer, as the tree died back. The tree is identified as T1 of Crowland Tree Preservation order No. 17 2007.
