Council planning record

Details pursuant to conditions 7, 26 and 48 of MC/16/1014 - Medway Council has received a consultation from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) in regard to an application made to DECC seeking, under Section 36(c) of the Electricity Act 1989 (as amended) (the Act), to further vary the existing consent to allow flexibility by retaining the existing option of constructing the already consented 1,800MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine scheme or enabling the provision of up to 300MW, as part of the 1,800MW approved capacity as Open Cycle Gas Turbine peaking plant (OCGT) units, with the CCGT capacity correspondingly reduced, such that the combined output remains at 1,800MW. The proposal includes a slight reconfiguration of the power plant that results in a change to the indicative layout and design, with OCGT units added. This would be a variation to the existing consent scheme under DECC Reference 01.08.10.04/415C (Medway Council's Reference MC/15/2153).
