Council planning record

Tree 1 on the Site Plan is a Sycamore species tree, critically affected by some form of fungi or mould which has rendered the tree dangerous and likely to fall imminently. Currently, the north side of the tree, which splits into two main trunks at about 7 metres, is already dead and unable to produce leaves. The south half of the tree is rotting internally, shedding bark; and its leaves are contaminated by the fungi also. The works to be carried out are an entire felling of the tree to ground level, along with minor excavation of large roots directly beneath the main trunk. This work is vital to the safeguarding of surrounding properties, notably 44a/b, 46, and 48 Beaconsfield Road. If this tree were to fall in its entirety in strong winds or at the stage of structural failure, the damage to the surrounding trees within the conservation area, the houses and gardens would be exponential.
