Council planning record

Tree Preservation Order EL:08/28 - T1 Beech and T2 Oak on right - Reduce lateral canopy growth extending over the garden by approximately 2m, leaving a finished lateral spread of approximately 5m. T3 Oak on left -Reduce lateral canopy growth extending over the garden by approximately 2m, leaving a finished lateral spread of approximately 6m. The above proposed work will manage the extensive lateral growth of all three trees, which currently extends significantly over the planted garden and lawn areas. The overhanging canopy is increasingly restricting the usable garden space and reducing light levels to the planting and lawn beneath. A proportionate reduction of the lateral canopy will help to maintain the trees within the available garden space, reduce excessive encroachment over the garden, and retain an appropriate balance between the trees and their immediate surroundings. The works will be carried out sympathetically, maintaining the natural form and structural integrity of both trees while retaining their amenity and landscape value. T4 Dying Beech at rear - fell to ground level. The tree is significantly deteriorating with more than 50% of the crown showing signs of decline/deadwood. The tree is located adjacent to an area regularly used by children for play. The presence of significant dead and declining material increases the potential for branch failure, particularly as the tree continues to deteriorate. Removal is therefore proposed as a precautionary measure to eliminate the foreseeable risk associated with the its declining condition. The owner proposes to replace the tree with a new Beech, maintaining the species and providing appropriate replacement tree cover at the site. The replacement will be planted in a suitable location and allowed sufficient space to establish and develop into a healthy mature tree.
