See attachment “TPO site plan” T1 Oak • Prune to create 2m from the adjacent dwelling as already approved in your letter of 8/10/26 • Remove deadwood. • Lift lower canopy to 2.5m to clear head height and enable normal use of our driveway. There are branches currently hanging below 2m. Please see photos "T1 West" and “T1 West proposed”. • Trim back lateral spread1-2m of secondary branches of diameter of less than 75mm over pavement and driveway to allow normal use. • Summary of approx. dimensions before and after trimming: Lateral East 8m trim to 6/6.5m, North 6m trim to 4.5/5m. Height 9m to 7.5/8m • Justification: This tree is lopsided and has branches extending over the pavement and driveway. See photos "T1 East" and “T1 Driveway”. • The canopy significantly overhangs the parking area. • The overhang interferes with the normal use of the parking space. • A modest reduction or crown lift as described above would alleviate the problem without materially harming the tree's appearance or health and restore the natural profile shape of the Oak. T2 Beech • Crown lift to 3m from base of tree as clarified in photo "T2 Base plus cabin". • Reduce by 1-2m lateral spread and height. Approx dimension adjustments as follows: Height current 15m trim to 13m, current Lateral North 6.5m trim to 5m, East 7.5m to 5.5m, South 8.5m trim to 6.5m, West 7.5m trim to 5.5m. See photo “T2 from no 25” • Remove deadwood. • Carry out a light crown lift and selective reduction of the lowest secondary branches overhanging the cabin (see photos “T2 over cabin from 25” and "T2 Base plus cabin"), to achieve an approximate clearance of 2.5 metres above the roofline. All works to be undertaken in accordance with BS3998:2010 Tree Work – Recommendations, retaining the tree’s natural form and also ensuring cuts are limited to secondary growth only with diameter of less than 100mm. • Justification: The works are intended to provide appropriate structural clearance, prevent potential damage to the outbuilding, and allow safe ongoing maintenance access. The proposal represents a minimal and proportionate intervention that we feel should not materially affect the tree’s public amenity value. The lower crown of the tree is extending directly over a timber outbuilding and several branches are now within close proximity to the roof structure. This limits safe access for maintenance and presents a risk of physical contact and abrasion damage to the roof covering during periods of wind movement. Comment We are trying to follow this previously advised good practice: As a species Beech and Oak are tolerant of regular trimming and the would be expected to respond favourably to this. Regular light trimming of new foliage will maintain the established form of the trees without significantly reducing their wider public amenity value.
