Council planning record

Roble Beech (Nothofagus obliqua), Tree number E1.22 is located on Beaufort Lawn adjacent to the Assembly Hall and the Layard Theatre. The tree has a large limb that leans East, across the road between the 2 buildings, which has a large volume of foot traffic. At the union of limb and trunk there is some staining and peeling of bark as pictured. We have concern that this could be an area of future weakness and we believe we need to reduce weight on the limb. We believe the limb therefore requires vertical pruning of branches to a height of approximately 4.5 metres above ground level as pictured. This would remove some of the small growth towards the end of the limb (thus reducing weight loading) but leave a proportion of small green growth as well.
